The CMC series is the world’s first modular controller system for Cubase. Consisting of six unique USB controllers, CMC gives you all the control options you're looking for — along with utmost flexibility and great ease of use.
The CMC series is made up of six USB-powered controllers that can be individually combined to form a custom-made Cubase control desk. Whether beat creation, transport control, editing or multi-track mixing, there is the perfect model for every task. Each of the six slim-sized units is unique in its own way and features a dedicated set of illuminated rotary encoders, touch faders or pads — each of them designed to take hands-on control of a specific section in Cubase. Due to the adoption of Cubase’s icons and color scheme, users will instantly feel at home with the workflow. Take control, keep focused and be flexible — the CMC series will tremendously speed up your recording, editing and mixing workflow no matter if you are in the studio or on the go.
Total modularity
CMC stands for the world’s first truly integrated, modular controller system. Made up of six unique units, each designed for a dedicated purpose, the CMC micro controllers can be individually combined to form a personal Cubase control desk — with up to nine CMC units. With the included joint plate, it is a straightforward matter to fix several CMC units. Plus, you can even combine the PD and FD models with Steinberg’s CC121 Advanced Integration controller, leaving no control request unanswered. For the first time ever, it is possible to individually design a personal controller system that exactly fits your needs.
Touch Fader / Slider
The CMC-FD, CMC-CH and CMC-TP controllers introduce a newly developed, high-precision touch device that offers a whole new approach to DAW control. While the CMC-FD and CMC-CH house a high-precision touch fader with a resolution of up to 1,024 steps and integrated LED lights, the CMC-TP comes with a multi-functional touch slider. The ultra-high resolution, integrated LED lights for visual feedback and dedicated working modes make this innovative control solution a smart and intuitive addition to any studio and live performance setup.
AI Knob
First introduced with Steinberg’s CC121 Advanced Integration Controller, the revolutionary AI Knob is an exceptionally helpful “point and control” knob. Rather than attempting to replace traditional mouse pointing devices, the AI Knob harnesses the flexibility of a computer mouse to offer unprecedented speed when editing parameters and adjusting settings. The computer mouse is simply moved over the parameter, which is then automatically placed under full precision control through the AI Knob, with no need to make any additional settings in Cubase, any additional software module or on the interface itself.
Visual Feedback Galore
The CMC-QC and CMC-CH units house convenient rotary encoders with green LED lights. The LED brightness varies according to the encoder position: the farther from the center, the brighter the LED. And also the CMC-PD features 16 highly responsive rubber pads with LED-based background lights. Best of all, the lights change colors depending on the velocity level — from green to orange over to red.
Slick and Mobile
Small in size but big in value, the CMC series are your perfect partner on the road. The units are small enough to fit in your pocket, on a master keyboard or wherever desired. Since the CMC units are powered via USB, you don't need any additional power supply. And with a unique level of handling quality, the CMC series is suited for both crowded live venues and project studios ranging from bedroom to mansion.
AI: Advanced Integration
AI stands for Advanced Integration, being a technology developed in close collaboration between Steinberg and Yamaha. The AI technology allows for a seamless integration of the DAWs developed by Steinberg into the digital audio hardware from Yamaha and Steinberg. AI provides plug-and-play at an as-yet unknown level. The software automatically carries out the required settings of the connected hardware, such as selecting drivers and the remote settings — it couldn’t be easier.
Instant plug and play with Cubase
Each CMC controller features full plug and play with Cubase, requiring no additional setup as a controller device. A swift, one-step installation procedure is all that’s required. Once the installation has been performed, Cubase detects the device when launched and automatically binds the unit into the Cubase production environment. To reflect this, the Ready lamp lights up and the controller is ready to assume control.
Cubase AI 6 included
Each of the CMC units includes an exclusive download version of Cubase AI, a special, compact version of the popular Cubase music production system. Together with one or more CMC units, you have a complete system solution for fine-tuning your music to perfection.

Building on the same core technologies found in Steinberg’s Cubase 6 advanced music production, Cubase AI 6 is a special compact version offering all the basic tools for recording, editing and mixing everything from the basic idea to the final masterpiece. Cubase AI 6 offers powerful yet easy-to-use software tools for a large range of music styles — exclusive to customers of selected hardware.

The clearly structured layout, the seamless Cubase integration and technical innovations such as the touch fader make this portable USB-controller the perfect companion for any Cubase user — whether playing live, recording in the studio or just hanging out in the park.
CMC-FD $199.99
The CMC-FD is a cutting-edge USB-controller featuring four high-resolution touch faders with integrated LED metering, solo/mute function and support for simultaneous use of up to four units.
The CMC-FD carries four newly developed, touch-sensitive faders that provide precision control over four Cubase channels at the same time. What sets the CMC-PD apart is the ultra-high resolution of up to 1,024 steps — a big plus that allows you to fine-tune the volume level with utmost accuracy. But the CMC Fader controller also functions as a convenient level meter. Once in the Meter mode, red LED lights exactly indicate the volume levels of the selected tracks.
The navigation through the Cubase mixer is as easy as it gets: simply press the Channel Select or Bank Select buttons and directly jump to the desired channels or whole groups of channels in the Cubase mixer. For even more convenience in the mixing process, you can solo and mute channels by simply pressing the Shift button and tapping onto the respective touch strip — that’s it.
Best of all, up to four CMC-FD units can be combined to build a fully fledged, sixteen-channel touch control desk. For perfect usability, the physical layout management system remembers the arrangement of the CMC units on your desk.In other words, the CMC-FD allows you to adjust sub groups within no time, solo and mute several tracks at once or fine-tune a channel’s volume with 1,024-step resolution — all from one pioneering touch device that is perfectly integrated with the Cubase music production system.
CMC-QC $149.99
The USB-powered CMC Quick Controller houses 13 backlit buttons alongside eight rotary encoders to provide precise tactile control over virtually any effect, EQ and performance parameter in Cubase.
The CMC QC unit houses 13 illuminated buttons and eight rotary encoders with green LED lights that change their lighting intensity according to the set position. To ensure a maximum of flexibility, the controller comes with three dedicated working modes — EQ, Quick Control and MIDI. Once in the EQ mode, the rotary encoders mirror the Cubase Channel EQ controls to give you accurate control over the frequency, gain and bandwidth levels. Being the perfect choice for tweak freaks and control enthusiasts, the QC mode brings the powerful Cubase Quick Controls to your fingertips, including their potential to create off-the-beaten-track effects and precise automation data. The assignment is as fast as it gets: choose a parameter within Cubase, push the f/Q Learn button and turn the desired encoder — that’s it. Plus, the versatile MIDI mode turns the CMC QC into a freely configurable MIDI controller to provide additional creative headroom.
